Enhanced scheduling and optimization

As of Summer ’23, new Salesforce orgs have Enhanced Scheduling and Optimization enabled by default for all service territories. The new architecture and services are more efficient and improve scalability, performance, and schedule quality. For example, optimize your scheduling to reserve time in the morning for installation appointments only, so that your employees aren’t filled up with repair or maintenance appointments.

This feature is available in Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions with the Field Service managed package installed.

Field Service Mobile

Mobile performance becomes increasingly important for companies, especially for those who deliver services on the go. One of these features is the Field Service Mobile Widget. The widget shows mobile workers their next appointment on the home screen of their Field Service app.

The potential of Lightning web components in shaping your mobile applications to align with business needs is a game-changer. Leveraging these components not only refines your mobile app but also provides superior accessibility and flexibility for your mobile workforce.

One of the significant enhancements is the ability to configure image upload optimization directly from the Field Service Mobile Settings. This feature allows an efficient adjustment of image sizes, thereby optimizing the upload speed. Unlike the previous approach that necessitated configuration from Connected Apps, this shift streamlines the process and facilitates smoother operation.

To keep mobile workers on track with appointments, the introduction of the Field Service mobile widget proves to be a useful tool. This widget provides a clear view of upcoming appointments on their home screen, along with essential details such as time and location. It also enables workers to update appointment statuses and navigate to the location, ensuring punctuality and proper schedule management.

The redesigned related list presents another noteworthy feature, enhancing the ease of viewing list items. While maintaining the essential functions that mobile workers rely on, the updated design incorporates labelled and stacked rows for a more user-friendly experience. This design improvement addresses the previous challenge of missing labels, which often complicated understanding list items.

Additionally, setting up location-based actions has been made effortless, allowing workers to view service appointment records, open Lightning web components, or initiate a mobile flow. The provision for setting follow-up appointments directly in the app, coupled with the capability to upload images offline and add text descriptions, amplifies productivity and communication efficiency.

The implementation of a comprehensive dashboard aids mobile workers in tracking data, thereby maximizing their performance and productivity. These enhancements, developed with the mobile workforce in mind, are crucial in optimizing business operations and ensuring optimal user experience.

Field Service Mobile; guide Your Mobile Workers (pilort)

The new pilot feature for Field Service Mobile lets you guide Your Mobile Workers at the Right Place and the Right Time. This way, when workers arrive at their next appointment, an action will open the service appointment in the Field Service app so that they can immediately see all the latest details.

Enhance your mobile workforce efficiency by providing them with personalized information exactly when they require it. By setting up targeted actions, you empower your workers to access service appointment records, launch a Lightning Web Component (LWC), or initiate a mobile flow as needed.

Consider a scenario where a worker arrives to repair a leaking pipe. In this case, an action could be set up to open the service appointment in the Field Service app, allowing the worker to access all the pertinent details. Additionally, an action could prompt an LWC, enabling the worker to upload an image of the leak for the site survey.

Upon completion of the appointment, another action can guide the worker through a mobile flow for a comprehensive checklist. This ensures that no critical steps are overlooked, guaranteeing a thorough and efficient service visit. With such targeted actions, we can greatly enhance the efficiency and efficacy of your mobile workforce operations.
