Salesforce Winter '24 Release
Exploring the Salesforce Winter '24 Release for Slack
Niek Bachman, Practice Manager Sales at Nextview Consulting, cant wait to dive into his favorite new features of the Salesforce Winter 2024 release, focusing particularly on Slack
Notify Slack Users with @Mentions in Salesforce
Salesforce's Winter Release has rolled out a new feature for Slack users: you can now use @mentions to notify team members within the Lightning Experience interface. This update allows you to see which Slack users are active or away directly through Salesforce.
The feature is part of the Service Cloud for Slack app and works with various Salesforce editions, including Enterprise and Developer. It’s available once an admin installs and approves it in your Slack workspace.
To access this feature, users need permission to connect Salesforce with Slack. Some advanced options may require additional permissions.
To mention someone, type "@" followed by their username. For channels, use "#" plus the channel name, and for emojis, ":" followed by the emoji name. This integration simplifies communication and brings a bit of Slack’s functionality into Salesforce’s environment.
Share Files in Slack from Lightning Experience
Salesforce's recent update lets you manage files in Slack directly from the Lightning Experience. Now, users can download, preview, and send files to a Slack channel right from the Salesforce Service Console, making it easier to share attachments during collaborations.
This functionality is part of the Service Cloud for Slack app and is compatible with various Salesforce editions, including Enterprise and Developer. Its use is subject to admin approval and installation in Slack.
Users need appropriate permissions to connect Salesforce with Slack to utilize this feature. Additional permissions may be required for some functions, which are detailed in the Swarming User Permissions setup guide.
Unite Salesforce and Slack with Expanded Object Support
Salesforce enhances integration with Slack by expanding object support within their Search and Post feature in PRM for Slack. This means that while previously the feature was limited to just 4 objects, now users can work with up to 10 different objects, such as accounts, contacts, opportunities, and custom objects, providing a broader scope for data access and actions within Slack.
Expanded object support allows users to search for, access, and post a wider variety of Salesforce records directly in Slack, streamlining workflows and improving collaboration.
This update is available for Lightning Experience in Enterprise and Unlimited editions and requires Slack Enterprise Grid.
